CookEase is free to use, and a free account is the whole app, not a preview. The only things that are counted are the ones that take real work behind the scenes: saving a new recipe, crafting one, adding groceries by voice and asking the Cooking Assistant questions. Here is exactly what you get, and what happens when you run out.

The same table appears on the Upgrade page on the website and in the app.
What a free account includes
Every new account starts with a one-time allowance. It does not reset each day or each month: once it is used, it is used, and it grows when you invite friends.
- 5 saves from links. Every recipe you save from a link, pasted text, a photo or a PDF counts as one.
- 5 saves from Discover. Saving someone else's recipe from Discover, a creator page or a shared recipe link.
- 3 Recipe Crafter recipes. Each recipe the Recipe Crafter makes for you.
- 50 voice adds. Groceries you add to a shopping list by saying them out loud.
Each one is counted on its own, so using up your Discover saves never touches your saves from links.
The Cooking Assistant is counted per day
Free accounts can ask the Cooking Assistant 5 questions a day. The count starts again every day at midnight UTC (late afternoon or evening in the US). On the website, spoken and typed questions each have their own 5; in the app they share the same 5. Following a recipe step by step in cook mode is never counted: only questions you ask are.
Always free, with no limit
- Opening, cooking and scaling every recipe you have saved.
- Editing recipes and organizing them into cookbooks.
- Shopping lists built from your recipes or typed in.
- Nutrition for every recipe, and sharing recipes with anyone.
See how many you have left
Open Save a Recipe (the Save a recipe button in your Cookbook on the website, or the orange + button and then Save a Recipe in the app). The dark bar at the top shows how many free saves are left, like 2 free saves left. In the app, the Recipe Crafter shows the same kind of bar for recipe creations.

On the website: the bar above the Web Link, Upload File and Paste tabs.

In the app: the Recipe Crafter's bar, and the sheet you see once it reaches zero.

Invite a friend
Every friend who joins with your invite link or code adds 20 saves from links, 5 Discover saves, 3 Recipe Crafter recipes and 50 voice adds to your allowance. There is no cap, the extras never expire, and they apply on their own. Find your link at Invite friends in the website's account menu or the app's More tab. See refer a friend. - 2
Use a creator code
If you found CookEase through a creator's video, their code adds 10 saves from links, 10 Discover saves and 3 Recipe Crafter recipes. Each account can use one code. See creator codes. - 3
Or go unlimited with Pro
Pro starts with a 7-day free trial for first-time subscribers. Plans and prices are in plans, billing and subscriptions.
What happens when you run out
You will never lose a recipe because of a limit. When there is no room left for something new, CookEase tells you right away and offers a way to get more.
A sheet slides up: You're out of free saves (or You're out of free creations in the Recipe Crafter, and You're out of free voice adds in a shopping list). It has three buttons:
- Upgrade to Pro opens the plans.
- Refer a Friend opens your phone's share sheet with your invite link, and shows what each friend earns you (for example +20 free).
- Later closes the sheet.
On Android with no Recipe Crafter recipes left.
The Save a Recipe window shows a message such as "You've used all 5 of your free saves" with two buttons: Go Pro opens the plans, and Invite a friend, get 20 more
copies your invite link. The Recipe Crafter and the Cooking Assistant show the same kind of message when their free allowance runs out.
When you pick more Discover or creator recipes than you have saves for, a Save all ... in one tap window offers Go Pro, Save ... now for the ones that fit, or Not now.
CookEase picks up where you left off
If a limit stopped you in the middle of something (a link you were saving, a recipe you pasted, a photo, your Discover picks, groceries you said out loud), CookEase keeps it for 30 days. As soon as you have room again, because a friend joined, you used a code or you upgraded, it finishes the job and shows Picking up where you left off. For the Recipe Crafter it fills your idea back in, so you can tap Craft my recipe when you are ready. If you picked more recipes than you now have room for, it opens the same choice as before: Go Pro, or Save ... now for the ones that fit. Only the most recent thing is kept.
