Can't sign in? Fix confirmation, password and account mix-ups

Missing confirmation email, a forgotten password, or an empty cookbook after signing in? Here is how to get back into the CookEase account that has your recipes.

Works oniPhoneAndroidWebUpdated

In short

  • Sign in the same way you signed up: Google, Apple or email. With the same email address they all lead to the same account.
  • Apple's Hide My Email gives CookEase a different, private address, so it opens a separate account. If your cookbook looks empty, sign out and try the method you used first.
  • New email accounts must be confirmed from the email we send. On the website you can ask for a new confirmation link from the sign-in page.
  • Forgot your password? Click Forgot password? on the website sign-in page. The link we email you opens a page where you set a new password, which then works on the website and in the app.

Your recipes belong to one CookEase account, and every way of signing in has to lead back to it. Most sign-in trouble comes down to three things: signing in a different way than you signed up, an email that has not been confirmed yet, or a forgotten password.

The website's sign-in page. The apps offer the same three ways: Google, Apple and email.

Sign in the way you signed up

CookEase accounts are tied to an email address. If you signed up with Google, Apple or an email and password, using the same email address takes you to the same account. The usual mix-up is ending up with a second, empty account:

This opens a different account

Signing in with Apple and choosing Hide My Email, signing in with a different Google account, or creating a new email account with another address. CookEase sees a new email, so it makes a new, empty account.

This finds your recipes

Using the same button and the same email address you used the first time. Not sure which? Log out and try each one: Google, Apple, then email.

Apple's Hide My Email

When you sign in with Apple, Apple can hide your real address and give CookEase a private one instead (it ends in privaterelay.appleid.com). That address is different from your Gmail or work email, so it is a separate CookEase account. If you saved recipes with Apple and Hide My Email, keep using Apple. If you signed up with your real email, choose Share My Email when Apple asks, or use the email button.

Confirm your email

New accounts made with an email and password need to be confirmed before you can sign in. Right after signing up, CookEase sends an email with a Confirm Your Email button. Tap it, then sign in. (Google and Apple accounts skip this step.)

Questions people ask

I signed in and my cookbook is empty. Where are my recipes?

You are most likely in a second account. This happens when you sign in a different way than you signed up, for example with Apple using Hide My Email, or with a different email address. Log out, then sign in with the method and email you used first. If you are not sure, try each one. If you made two accounts by accident, contact us through Help and feedback.

I never got the confirmation email. What do I do?

Check your spam or junk folder and any Promotions tab, and search your inbox for CookEase. On the website, try to sign in: CookEase tells you the email is not confirmed and offers Send me a new confirmation link. Links do not last forever, so always use the newest one.

Can I reset my password in the app?

Start on the website: open cookeaseapp.com/login in your phone's browser, choose Forgot password? and open the link in the email. It lets you set a new password, and then you log in to the app with it.

The reset link says it has expired. What now?

Reset links work once and only for a day. Enter your email on that page and click Send a new link, then open the newest email from CookEase.

Why does it say "Incorrect email or password" when I am sure the password is right?

Check the email for typos first. If you signed up with Google or Apple, you may never have set a password: use the Google or Apple button instead. Otherwise use Forgot password? on the website.

Sign up says the email is already registered. Why?

You (or someone using your email) already created an account with it, possibly with Google or Apple. Use Sign in instead, with the method you used before, or use Forgot password? on the sign-in page.

Can I change the email address on my account?

Not from the app or the website. Contact us through Help and feedback and choose Account or Billing Help, and we will help you move your account to the new address.
