Brownie Base
- 1cupButter(melted)
- 2cupSugar(granulated)
- 4largeEggs(room temperature)
- 1cupCocoa powder(unsweetened)
- 1cupFlour(all-purpose)
- ½tspSalt(fine sea salt)
- 1tspVanilla Extract(pure)
Pecan Topping
- 1cupBrown sugar(packed)
- ½cupMaple syrup(pure)
- ½cupButter(melted)
- 2largeEggs(slightly beaten)
- 1tspVanilla Extract(pure)
- ¼tspSalt(fine)
- 2 ½cupPecan Halves(whole)
Instructions
Brownie Base
- 1 Preheat oven to 350F (175C) and line a 9x13 pan with parchment paper.
- 2 In a large bowl, whisk melted butter and sugar.
- 3 Add eggs and vanilla, whisking until smooth.
- 4 Gently fold in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt until just combined.
- 5 Spread batter evenly into the prepared pan and bake for 20 minutes.
Pecan Topping
- 1 While the brownie base is par-baking, whisk together brown sugar, maple syrup, melted butter, eggs, vanilla, and salt in a medium bowl.
- 2 Fold in the pecan halves.
- 3 Once the brownie base has finished its initial 20 minutes, carefully pour the pecan mixture over the top.
- 4 Return to the oven and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the center is set and the topping appears glossy.
- 5 Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before lifting out by the parchment edges and cutting into 16 squares.
